DEBATECLOPEDIA : THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PAY HOUSE WIFE AND HOUSE HUSBANDS FOR THEIR WORK

Have you ever thought about being a housekeeper, hairdresser, supervisor, manager or even a teacher at the same time for 24 hours? without any salary given to you?  This occupation probably is the hardest occupation in the world. Somehow it doesn't mean that none of us has ever done it before. In general, a mother, a father or to be frank, parents have become a manager, supervisor, hairdresser and housekeeper at the same time for 24 hours without any penny given to them. Furthermore, being a housewife or househusband is in line with this condition. A housewife/husband is a type of person who stays at home and in charge of the household, such as raising the children, or doing the house core, sweeping the floor, vacuuming the carpet or even taking out the trash. These house core jobs are not simple things, In general, housewife/husband keep on doing it over and over again. This can be compared with an employed baby-sitter or housekeeper. Both housewife/husband and employed housekeeper do exactly the same activities and duty, but in fact the jobs of housewife/husband have never turned into money. To be fair, being a housewife/husband is unlike The Real Housewife- television series. (In a TV series, the actors/actress get money, and eventually some of them become rich). Being a housewife/husband is not an easy job, so that the government should pay housewife/husband for their work.

The issue of paying housewife/husband is not a new case. In 2014, a Italian association proposed to the government to pay the housewife for their job. This issues is not a simple issue. In paying housewife/husband can bring a betterment in many aspects, such as minimizing the unjustified portrayal of housewife.husband and housekeeper,  financial capability, self-esteem, even lowering the number of domestic abuse. It's an urgent situation to help the housewife/husband to be respected by all layer of society, or even to be respected by their own family member. It also bring a significant impact to the family member.

First,the unjustified portrayal of housewife/husband and housekeeper. Housewife/husband and employed housekeeper have the same job desks and responsibility. Somehow being a housewife/husband is quite similar with being a housekeeper and nanny at the same time. Even nanny and housekeeper have their own standard of salary. On the other hand, housewife/husband don't have it. The different is only laying on the fact that housewife/husband is the parents of their children and it's their destiny to take care of their children without any money given to them. There is a portrayal in the society that it's a fate of housewife/husband to stay at home and do the chores, This condition shows the unjustified perspective on the exact same jobs and working hours of housewife/husband and housekeeper. It's more than just a matter of parents love. it's also a matter of respecting and the housewife/husband work. by giving the money to the housewife/husband shows that there is a balance situation or a balance definition on working at home 24 hours a day is legitimate to be done by everyone.

second, financial capability and domestic violence.
"You belong to me and you are the possession of mine". There is a saying that a wife/husband is the possession of one partner. It will be complicated if a wife is a stay at home mom and don't have any independent money. vice versa. How is that so?  In current situation, a housewife/husband who doesn't have any jobs only depends on the working husbands/wife. This condition may lead to underestimating the partners just because the stay at home. The housewife/husband depends so much on the working party in terms of financial capability, such as buying food, school tuition, or even buying candy from a small candy store. This situation can be very frustrating. The case of domestic violence may appear because of this demand. The most complex part is in being a househusband, especially in patriarchy society. In this condition, the husband will be considered as useless and powerless. The burden will increase on both sides of marriage. Paying the housewife/husband are gonna solve this problems because housewife/husband will not depend their life so much to the working partner. At least, this condition will benefit them so that housewife/ husband are able to buy candies to their children by using their own money.

based on this condition, we need to pay the housewife/husband for the betterment of life.

Get to Know Jane Austen

Jane Austen is one of the famous authors from United Kingdom. She brought the beauty of love to the literature world. Her novels contain the pure and innocent side of love. She had died hundreds year ago, but she is still loved by thousands of her fan and her novels-admirer. One unique facts from her is she never married, even though she made many beautiful love stories.

The Early Year of Jane

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775, to George and Cassandra Austen in Steventon Rectory, Hampshire, England. She had six brothers and one sister. Both of her parents were from the lower ranks of the landed gentry - the sort of people Austen would later portray in her novels. George Austen served as rector of several nearby Anglican parishes.

The Austen children enjoyed reading books from their father's large library. She wrote "The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid' in one of her works, "Northanger Abbey"

She ever studied at Mrs. Crawley boarding school in oxford, but her family couldnt afford it anymore, she had to continue learning at home. On that day, she started to write short stories.

The Romance

Jane never married in her life. She ever fell in love with Tom Lefroy, a neighbor's nephew who was studying to be a barrister, but  it didn't work well. Later on, she was offered a marriage from Harris Bigg-Wither.somehow she never married to him

The Novel

As early as 1795, Austen began work on what would become "Pride and Prejudice," one of the most-read novels in the English language. It would not be finished and published for eighteen years.

A few years later, she started writing "Northanger Abbey." In early incarnations it was titled "Susan" or "Catherine." When the novel was finished, in 1803, Jane's brother, Henry, submitted it to Crosby & Company in London for publication. Benjamin Crosby paid Jane Austen 10 pounds, but he never published the book.

In 1809, Jane wrote to Crosby & Company, demanding that they either publish her book or return it. They countered that no deadline had been agreed upon, so she could either wait or return the 10 pounds she had been paid. She did not have the funds to buy back the rights to her novel. At last, in 1816, Henry Austen was able to repurchase the copyright to "Northanger Abbey."

The Final Day

In 1816, at the age of 41, Jane Austen became ill. She lost energy and her skin was discolored. Despite her illness, she started a new novel, "The Brothers," which would eventually be published as "Sanditon."

Ultimately, she became too ill to write or get out of bed. On July 18, 1817, she died in Winchester, Hampshire, England. Experts conjecture that she may have suffered from Addison's disease, Hodgkin's lymphoma, bovine tuberculosis, or a relapse of typhus.

Now,  her novels are adopted to movies, read by thousand people, learned at school. Her name is widely known among literature's lovers.

When student want to study abroad, they need to have a TOEFL test first, some companies want their new employee to take TOEFL test, to write the final paper, TOEFL test is also needed. We can say that TOEFL is widely used in some sectors.  Some people think that TOEFL isn’t an easy task.  It force to think, so What is TOEFL?

TOEFL  is test of English as a foreign language. So basically TOEFL is only used by the country whose language isn’t English. TOEFL is used by country which considered English as a foreign language. TOEFL is used to measure the level of English language proficiency o non-native speakers of English.  Now, TOEFL has become one of requirement at over 2.000 universities around the world.

TOEFL test is divided into 4 sections. They are listening section, structure and written expression,reading, and test of written English. The test contains of 140 questions. 

• listening comprehension

this section contains of 3 parts, mini dialogue, longer conversation and short talk. there are 50 questions in this section. T o answer this section well, people need to listen careully to what the speaker has said and try to find the key words from each dialogue

• structure and written expression

this section is another form of grammar. it's basically a grammar test. there are 40 questions to answer all the section. concerning to grammar, the students should learn hard to know about grammar.

• reading comprehension

this section is a reading comprehension test. students are given a passage and they have to answer the question based on the passage. the challenging part from this section is the difficult vocabulary. It will be difficult for students to answer the question because they are many words which is difficult to understand

• test of written expression

in this section, students have to write an essay about a topic.

What is British Parliamentary Debate?

Tanpa disadari, debat sudah menjadi bagian dari hidup manusia. Mulai dari debat skala kecil, membahas siapa yang akan menang dalam pertandingan bola, debat memilih ketua kelas, bahkan debat antarcalon presiden sampai debat antara delegasi negara - negara tertentu membahas masalah terkini. Di kalangan mahasiswa seluruh dunia, debat juga salah satu bagian yang populer. Bahkan di beberapa universitas "debate" menjadi salah satu mata kuliah, berbagai debate society juga didirikan. Apa sebenarnya debate itu ? Apa itu British parliamentary debate?

Debat adalah pembahasan dan pertukaran pendapat mengenai suatu hal dng saling memberi alasan untuk mempertahankan pendapat masing-masing. Ada berbagai jenis debat bahasa inggris yang populer, mulai dari Asian parliamentary debate, Australian debate, bahkan British parliamentary debate. Yang akan dibahas kali ini adalh british parliamentary debate.

British parliamentary debate atau yang sering disebut BP adalah suatu jenis debat yang terdiri dari 4 tim. 2 tim berpihak sebagai government dan 2 tim lainnya berpihak sebagai opposition. Government tim adalah tim yang mendukung tema debat, sementara opposition team adalah tim yang menentang tema debat.  Tim debat juga dibagi menjadi opening branch dan closing branch. Opening branch adalah tim yang menentukan arah suatu debat. Closing branch adalah tim yang menyimpulkan jalannya debat. berikut ini format debat british parliamentary :

1. Prime minister bertugas utnuk memberikan definisi mengenai tema debat yang dibahas.
2. leader of opposition bertugas menyanggah pendapat prime minister, memberikan alasan yang jelas
3. deputy prime minister memberikan tambahan alasan mengapa suatu tema itu benar
4. deputy leader of prime minister memberikan penjelasan lebih mengenai pendapat leader if opposition
5. member of government dan opposition memberikan penjelasan yang lebih detail
6. government and opposition whip memberikan ringkasan atas jalannya debat

hitting the road - Medan

Dalam tulisan saya kali ini, saya akan membahasa kota kelahiran saya, Kota Medan. Pada dasarnya semua tempat didunia ini memiliki keindahan, keunikan, dan ciri khas nya tersendiri, begitu pula kota medan. Medan adalah ibu kota provinsi sumatera utara. Medan adalah kota terbesar ketiga di indonesia,setelah Jakarta dan Surabaya.

jika kota Bandung terkenal sebagai paris van java, maka kota medan pernah dilabel sebagai paris van soematra selama masa kependudukan Belanda di indonesia. Medan juga merupakan kota ke-6 di Asia yang memiliki banyak bangunan - bangunan kuno, tidak hanya bangunan bernuansa arsitektur Belanda, namun juga cina,melayu bahkan india. Hal yang dapat anda lakukan pertama kali di medan adalah menikmati kota tua.jika berjalan- jalan di kawasan ini, kamera adalah barang wajib yang tidak boleh ditinggalkan

Menjelajahi kota bernuasa Belanda

Sepanjang jalan ahmad yani medan, banyak bangunan tua yang memiliki arsitektur Belanda. Salah satu bangunan yang akan memanjakan anda dan kamera anda adalah bangunan PT. London Sumatera (Lonsum). gedung ini pertama dibangun pada tahun 1906. Sesuai namanya gedung ini merupakan kantor pusat perusahaan London Sumatera dan masih beroperasi hingga saat ini. Disamping itu, banguan ini sudah menjadi cagar budaya.

bangunan berikutnya adalah bank indonesia medan. Bangunan ini dibangun sesama pemerintahan belanda tahun 1906, setahun kemudian bangunan ini menjadi pusat perbankan Belanda saat itu.

Bank indonesia ini terletak di jalan balai kota, sepanjang jalan balai kota ini, kita dapat menikmati bangunan khas belanda lainnya seperti pos indonesia,stasiun kereta api. suasana akan semakin indah, jika perjalanan anda dilakukan pada malam hari dimana lampu - lampu kota menghiasi jalanan dengan begitu megahnya. belum lagi dengan adanya lampu - lampu dari hotel yang terletak disekitar daerah ini.

Medan terkenal dengan keanekaragaman etnis yang ada. Tjong A Fie mansion akan membawa anda masuk dan menjelajah ke era 1900. dinamakan Tjong A fie mansion karena duluya bangunan inimerupakan kediaman Tjong A fie dan keluarganya. Rumah ini resmi dibuka untuk umum pada tahun 2009. yang lebih menarik adalah, bangunan ini dibangun dengan berbagai campuran nuansa, seperti nuansa tiongkok, melayu bahkan belanda. Di dlamnya, Pengunjung akan dimanjakan dengan berbagai jenis barang antik, foto, bahkan memorabilia Tjong A Fie sendiri.Tjong A fie mansion terletak di jalan ahmad yani. saat ini , Tjong A Fie mansion dapat dikatakan sebagai bukti keberadaan multi etnis di Medan.

kota medan tentu tidak bisa dipisahkan dengan budaya melayunya. salah satu tempat ynag wajib di kunjungi ialah istana maimun. istana ini adalah istana kesultanan deli dan menjadi salah satu ikon kota medan. istana ini pertama kali dibangun pada tahun 1888 dan selesai pada tahun 1891. istana ini sudah berdiri selama lebih dari 1 abad. ketika memasuki kawasan ini, kita akan diajak untuk membayangkan rasanya jadi raja dan ratu melayu di masa lalu. Desain istana ini merupakan perpaduan budaya melayu, spanyol, india bahkan italia. istana maimun terletak di brigadir jendral katamso.

wisata kuliner di kampung keling

kampung keling merupakan suatu area dengan luas 10 hektare yang memiliki komunitas india terbesar. di kawasan ini, mata anda akan disuguhi dengan berbagai bangunan khas india. saat malam tiba, kawasan ini menjual berbagai macam makanan khas india. kuil sri mariamman adalah kuil hindu tertua di medan. arsitekstur ? tentu unik dan beda dri yang lain. kuil yang dibangun pada tahun 1881 ini akan memberikan anda pengetahuan tambahan tentang budaya dan agama. di tempat ini anda akan melihat budaya yang luar biasa dan lidah anda pun akan dimanjakan.

Karimun Jawa - java sea solace

Banyak orang mungkin tidak mengenal kepulauan yang satu ini. karimun jawa, mendengar namanya saja sudah membawa efek yang misterius dan gemerlap. kepulauan yang satu ini menyimpan berbagai macam keindahan yang tidak boleh disia siakan. Dari namanya saja, kita dapat mengetahui bahwa kepulauan ini terletak di laut jawa. dengan berbekal luas daratan sekitar 1500 hektar dan perairan 110.000 hektare, karimunjawa mampu menjadi pelipur lara bagi siapa pun yang melihatnya.
Nama karimunjawa sendiri memiliki sejarah yang menyelimutinya. Menurut legenda, kata karimun terilhami dari kisah sunan muria dan anak laki - lakinya, yang  bernama Amir Hasan. Sunan Muria merasa putranya memiliki sikap yang tidak baik. Ia ingin memberikan pelajaran hidup dan agama kepada anaknya. untuk itu ia meminta anaknya untuk pergi ke sebuah pulau yang terlihat kabur, atau dalam bahasa jawa , kremun-kremun. di pulau itu lah sang anak menerima berbagai macam pelajaran hidup dan agama. lama kelamaan pulau yang "kremun-kremun" bernama karimun.

saat ini karimunjawa merupakan tempat liburan yang mengasikkan. mulai dari sunbathing sampai island hopping,(aktivitas mengunjungi berbagai pulau). Ada berbagai macam aktivitas pantai yang dapat dilakukan, sunbathing, sailing, diving, snorkeling ,bahkan pengunjung juga dapat merasakan sensasi berenang bersama hiu di laut lepas. menurut survei yang dilakukan wildlife conservation society, 250 spesies ikan karang dan 100 spesies koral menghiasi lautan karimun jawa. pada dasarnya karimun jawa memiliki 27 pulau , dan 22 diantaranya sudah ditetapkan sebagai taman nasional. selain itu, dari 27 pulau yang ada hanya lima pulau yang berpenghuni. untuk sampai ke karimun jawa, pengunjung dapat menggunakan kapal dari semarang dan jepara. lebih tepatnya dari pelabuhan tanjung emas yang ada di semarang, setelah itu pilihlah kapal kartini 1. kapal ini berangkat setiap hari sabtu pukul 9 pagi ke karimun jawa dan kembali dari karimun jawa setiap hari minggu.so what are you waiting for ? go grab your bag and enjoy the beauty of nature.
